Celebrate Independence Day!

“You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness.  You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism.”  ~Erma Bombeck

One of the absolute best parts of living in Fairfield County is the 4th of July celebrations!  Especially if you live in a coastal town or city, heading to the beach to watch the fireworks is always a favorite pastime for many.  It’s a great way to not only show our patriotism for this fine country, but to make some awesome summer memories with family and friends.  We have the freedom to do such great things on a daily basis and that should never be taken for granted!  Let’s please remember that so many of our service men and women are away from their families on important holidays such as this, busy protecting us so that we can barbecue and celebrate and have all of this fun!   We believe that it is our duty to be as patriotic as we can and show how proud we are to live in the United States of America!

Festivities around Fairfield County start as early as Thursday, July 3rd this year and run through the 5th in some places, so make sure to plan ahead!  Pack up the picnic basket and blankets and head out for some fireworks after dark at one of these locations:

  • Stratford Fireworks:  Short Beach Park, Thursday, July 3rd.
  • Fairfield Fireworks:  Jennings Beach and Penfield Beach, Friday, July 4th.
  • Norwalk Fireworks:  Calf Pasture Beach, Saturday, July 5th.
  • Westport Fireworks:  Compo Beach, Monday, July 7th.
  • Wilton Fireworks:  Wilton High School, Friday, July 4th.
  • Weston Fireworks:  Weston Middle School, Friday, July 4th.
  • Rowayton Fireworks:  Bayley Beach, Friday, July 4th.
  • New Canaan Fireworks:  Waveny Park, Friday, July 4th.
  • Stamford Fireworks:  Stamford Harbor, Thursday July 3rd.
  • Greenwich Fireworks:  Greenwich Point and Binney Park, Saturday, July 5th.
  • Darien Fireworks: Darien High School, Saturday, July 5th.

We hope you have a safe and wonderful 4th of July Weekend, and beware of the potato salad!
