Frightfully Fun Fairfield County

Just four days remain before Halloween! If you’re like me and you’ve been too busy to soak up the pumpkin spice and get the pants scared off of you, don’t worry, Fairfield County has plenty of Halloween events over the next few days for you to get your fill.

For last minute pumpkins and other farm-fresh goodies, Silverman’s Farm (located at: 451 Sport Hill Rd, Easton, CT and open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily) never disappoints! The farm is huge, encompassing an apple orchard, pumpkin patch, and more, so the hay rides they offer are a wonderful way to get a tour of the farm. My family always loves their fresh-pressed apple cider—it goes smashingly with their delicious sugar cider donuts as well!

For the little ones, the Westport YMCA (located at: 59 Post Rd E Westport, CT) will be having their Halloween Spectacular on Thursday, October 29th at 3 p.m. This event will feature trick-or-treating in the area, and starting at 4 p.m. a live DJ will help you dance until you die!

In Fairfield, on Friday, October 30th from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., children will don their spookiest attire for Trick or Treat on Safety Street. The event takes place all along the Post Road in Fairfield, and Star 99.9 will even be hanging out on the green to hand out goodies and set the mood with music. I highly recommend this event—it was a yearly Halloween tradition for my childhood and was always a blast!

If furry friends are more your style, the Pequot Library in Southport (located at: 720 Pequot Avenue Southport, CT) is hosting a Costumed People and Pet Parade on Saturday, October 31st from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (parade is at 2 p.m. sharp). There will also be awards for best costume and fun games at the library. This event is free and open to the public, and you don’t need a pet to participate.

Finally, Norwalk’s own Lockwood-Matthews Mansion (located in Mathews Park, 295 West Avenue Norwalk, CT) will be conducting The Haunted Basement & Ghostly Sightings Tour from now through October 31st, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. This spooky tour is not only frightful, but historical in nature as well. Part of the tours include the rare opportunity to see the basement, which will be outfitted into a terrifying maze with ghosts and ghouls. Admission is $20.

Whether you’re craving farm-fresh goodies, need a safe place to trick-or-treat this Halloween, or are in search of some frightfully fun events, Fairfield County has something to offer you. Stay safe this Halloween, but don’t forget to have a ghoulishly good time!
